Cooper MS Students Run Lunchtime Cafe for Teachers
Students in Lucy Chaplin’s class at Cooper Middle used business and social skills they learned in class to hold a café for teachers. Students took on roles of cashier, kitchen manager, a delivery person for the café; they learned to communicate with customers in order to run a restaurant and ensure that customers are happy. “I loved being able to have a fresh slice of pizza for lunch and I appreciate all the hard work the students did to make that happen,” stated journalism teacher Lindsay Bovenzi. Plans are to hold a café every month through the end of the year, offering students the chance to serve in each of the available roles while gaining a new perspective about the restaurant business.
