Welcome, Principal Barrow!

Dear Cooper Middle School Parents, Students, and Staff,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Lisa Barrow, current Director of Professional Growth and Career Development in the Office of Professional Learning and Family Engagement has been selected as the new Principal of Cooper Middle School effective March 2, 2020.

Ms. Barrow brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the principalship. Prior to serving in her current position, Mrs. Barrow served as principal at Sleepy Hollow Elementary School and as an assistant principal at Marshall Road Elementary School and Frost Middle School. Her teaching experience is grounded in the area of special education; having served as a middle school Emotional Disabilities department chair.  Ms. Barrow’s school division expertise includes; coordinating the division Equity and Cultural Responsiveness Team, being a member of the FCPS Virginia Tiered Systems of Support team and supporting in the development and implementation of the division-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for students.

She works collaboratively and shares in decision-making. Her goal in fostering on-going collaboration is to build relationships that engage all stakeholders. Ms. Barrow is looking forward to preserving open and frequent communication that will sustain the culture of high expectations at the school.

Ms. Barrow received her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Connecticut. She completed her endorsement in PK-12 Administration and Supervision at George Mason University.

Ms. Barrow is greatly anticipating joining the students, staff, and families of the Cooper Middle School community. Please join me in welcoming Lisa Barrow as the new principal of Cooper Middle School.
