Outcome goals for this academic school year

Cooper Middle School | Fairfax County Public Schools | Region 1

End of Year SMARTR Outcome #1

By the end of the 2019- 2020 school year, students will demonstrate critical and creative thinking skills through the completion of authentic, performance based-assessments in their classes by improving at least one score point on the Critical and Creative Thinking rubric as reported through Science 7. (Emerging -1, Developing – 2, Proficient – 3, Exemplary – 4)

Strategy 1

Teachers self-assess, select, and reflect on a specific area of growth in critical thinking through the use of a Blended Learning approach.

Strategy 2

Provide professional development opportunities designed to foster growth in critical thinking through Blended Learning.

End of Year SMARTR Outcome #2

By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, at least 85% of students with disabilities (SWD) will improve by at least one performance level and/or pass the Standards of Learning Assessment for mathematics.

Strategy 1

The Cooper Math department will be trained to implements the Math Workshop Model

Strategy 2

Data collection and analysis three times per year for all Pre-Algebra students

End of Year SMARTR Outcome #3

By the end of the 2019-2020 school year, students will have at least one adult at Cooper Middle School whom they feel connected to.

Strategy 1

Provide strategies and opportunities to develop effective student-teacher relationships and a positive classroom culture.

Strategy 2

Implement a Check & Connect strategy for teachers to have non-academic conversations with 2-3 students per week to build relationships
