English Language Arts
Targeted Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, 75% of multilingual learners (levels 1-4) will meet or exceed their screener growth measure, as reported by iReady, from fall to spring.
Universal Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of students meeting or exceeding their screener growth measure, as reported by iReady, will increase from fall to spring by at least 5%.
Strategy 1: Utilize small groups and intervention to increase opportunities for students who need more practice to master standards.
Strategy 2: Maximize daily instruction and practice in word recognition, reading comprehension, and grammar (Lexia PowerUp).
Mathematics
Targeted Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of students identified as Students with Disabilities (SWD), Multilingual Learners (MLLs), and/or Black/Hispanic enrolled in Pre-Algebra will show at least 5% growth from fall to spring on the MAP Growth assessment.
Universal Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the percentage of students in Pre-Algebra will show 15% growth from the fall to spring on the MAP growth assessments.
Strategy 1: Increase teachers’ content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.
Strategy 2: Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.
Strategy 3: Improve the academic advising process to encourage students to open enroll in Math 7 Honors or Algebra 1/H.
Discipline
Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, we will decrease the number of students receiving out-of-school suspension (OSS) to no more than 11 students.
Strategy 1: Integrate student and family perspectives into discipline procedures through diverse communication methods during incidents, translation services, educator cultural competency training, and feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.
Strategy 2: Utilize an MTSS framework to establish and organize a school-wide continuum of proactive behavior and wellness supports which will provide targeted interventions to students at different levels of need.
Strategy 3: Implement Leveled Responses to Student Behaviors: Staff Managed for classroom issues, Office Managed for interventions beyond; provide clear guidelines for consistency and effectiveness, promoting division-wide behavior management; utilize the office-managed/ staff-managed document consistently.
Portrait of a Graduate Presentation of Learning (POG POL)
Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2024-25 school year, all Cooper students will have the opportunity to engage in Portrait of a Graduate Presentations of Learning (POG POLs) as measured by a 95% completion rate.
Strategy 1: Create portfolios (Resource 1) dedicated to documenting growth in POG/ATL attributes and skills.
Strategy 2: Engage students in reflection and planning (Resource 1) to share their growth in a presentation of learning.
