Cooper Earns Purple Star Award!
We're thrilled to announce that Cooper Middle School has been awarded the prestigious Purple Star Award for the 2024-2025 school year! This award, presented by the Virginia Council on the Educational Opportunity for Military Children, recognizes our commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
This is a huge honor for Cooper, and it reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. We're proud to be a welcoming and supportive place for all students, especially those who have a parent or guardian serving in the military.
What is the Purple Star Award?
The Purple Star Award is given to schools that demonstrate a commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students. This includes things like:
- Having a designated staff member to act as a liaison for military families
- Providing resources and support to help military students transition to a new school
- Creating a school environment where military students feel welcome and included
What does this mean for Cooper?
This award is a validation of our efforts to support military families. It also means that we'll be able to continue to improve our programs and services for these students. We're committed to providing the best possible education for all of our students, and this award will help us to do that.
