Summer Reading Information
Get a head start on becoming a Virginia Reader or just use this list as a starting point for good books to read by checking out the the Virginia Readers’ Choice - 2024-2025 book list below. As of July 1st, all the 2024-2025 titles should be available in ebook format through MackinVia. Want more info on Virginia Readers? Go to the Virginia State Literacy Association.
7th Grade- There is not a whole class single book required reading assignment for rising 7th graders. Instead, students are encouraged to read at least one book that connects to their identity - one that you would enjoy reading, of course!
8th Grade- Your 8th grade English teachers encourage you to read a book for enjoyment this summer.
Embolden titles are available in the Cooper Middle School library. All of the emboldened titles count towards Cooper’s Virginia Reader program. Be advised that even if the student is capable of reading books from the high school list, themes and language may be too mature for their age.
